Lincoln viewed the Constitution literally. "All means all." All men are created equal. The Republican view of the rights and freedoms granted to our citizens is to take the words of our Nation's Founding Fathers literally, and without extrapolation or expansion beyond its most literal and obvious intent. From the second amendment right to bear arms to the promises of due process, the Republican view is to protect and preserve the government that serves its people subject first to their rights which must be upheld.
During his term as our President, Ronald Reagan staunchly enforced "Reaganomics"- the exercise of "supply side" economics and conservative principles that protect the free enterprise system, keep the size of government at its lowest practical level, and practice fiscal responsibility. "Supply side" economics includes the basic maxim that those who create capital should remain in control of it (not over-tax producers of wealth). Under our current President, Donald J. Trump, the exercise of "supply side" economics principles has produced the nation's lowest unemployment rate in decades—since Ronald Reagan was President.
